We now are using AskmyGP an online system to book an appointment with a GP/ Nurse Practitioner or to get advice.

Only call the practice if you do NOT have Internet access.

We only offer a limited number of advance appointments with GPs that the receptionists can book in the extras clinic.

These are for Child Health Surveillance (6 week baby checks), Dementia Reviews, HGVs, Coils, Implanons and Prostap and zoladex injections as we operate a system known as triage, where a doctor will telephone you back and assess whether you need to be seen and, if so, how quickly. Therefore, in order to ensure you are treated as quickly as possible in the most appropriate manner, we ask patients to give a brief description of their problem to the receptionist. The receptionists have all received training in this and follow written guidelines.

If you prefer not to discuss your symptoms with a receptionist, that is entirely your prerogative, but doing so allows the doctors to assess how quickly you need to be contacted by them and will ensure you are dealt with in a timely manner, the doctor making an appointment for you as necessary. Receptionists are bound by our code of confidentiality and will not discuss your symptoms with anyone else.

This system has resulted in patients being assessed and provided with treatment far more rapidly than previously and has also enabled many patients to be successfully dealt with by telephone, avoiding an unnecessary visit to the practice for the patient. If you consider that you need urgent medical treatment and cannot wait for a doctor to call you back, please telephone 999 for an ambulance.
